Novarel Instead Of Ovidrel?

My current RE's IVF protocol for me includes Novarel as a trigger instead of Ovidrel, which is what I've been using for my IUIs.

Why would he switch to Novarel for IVF?

Re: Novarel Instead Of Ovidrel?

  • I also used ovidrel for IUIs and then Nouvarel for IVFs.  I am not sure why the switch... perhaps a stronger trigger for more follies?

  • My first RE did Noverel as well for IVF, but not for IUI, but my second clinic just did ovidrel. I never asked why - I just went with it. Each time they got my eggs whether I used Noverel or Ovidrel so I did not see the difference.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!

  • There are some RE's who believe Ovidrel is not strong enough to help multiple follicles complete the maturation process.  During one of my IUI's in which I used Ovidrel to trigger, I didn't ovulate until 3-4 days later.  Some RE's have no problem with it, but I always asked for Novarel from that point on.  Both RE's in my clinic prefer Novarel for IVF.
