She informed me at my last appt. that my blood type was O negative.
After giving blood at every OB appt, I'll have no excuses left not to give blood. I've never done it before, but blood drives, here I come! (next fall)
I'm O neg too and I gave blood once and it wasn't that bad!! I think I was there a tad bit longer than most ppl cause the lady kept re-tying my tourniquet so my blood would come faster.
I had planned on giving again after my 3 month wait when I found out I was pregnant!! I will def go again after the baby comes.
My DH is O- He has given blood before, but not nearly as often as he probably should. I'm A+, I've never given blood. I blame the fact that my iron is usually on the low side
I'm AB+ which is a pretty rare type, and I used to give all the time. But then the FDA changed the law and because I lived in Ireland for over a certain amount of time I can't anymore. They used to call me and ask me to come in when they needed my type. I feel so bad that I can't anymore!
Go Blood Donors! I'm O+ so is DH but that doesn't stop RC from calling us at least once a week to donate! I have horrible veins (the phlebotomist at my OBs office was shocked to hear I was a blood donor) but they somehow manage to squeeze enough out to donate.
Re: My OB made me feel guilty
At my appt. on Wednesday, my NP said "If the Red Cross finds out your O negative, they'll never leave you alone."
I thought that was funny.
