A Lewes pediatrician was charged Friday with 26 new counts related to the sexual abuse of female patients ranging in age from three months to 13 years, police said.

Dr. Earl B. Bradley, 56, who operates BayBees Pediatrics, is being held on nearly $3 million cash bail after being re-arrested Friday. The action came after state police raided his practice Wednesday and seized computers and digital recording equipment that helped identify the victims, they said.

The charges are in addition to ones filed earlier this week after the parents of a 2-year-old girl came forward to report alleged abuse of their daughter. That enabled detectives investigating other complaints against Bradley to get a warrant to search his offices.

The search resulted in the discovery of graphic video files showing Bradley molesting and raping children, according to court documents.

A veteran computer forensic investigator said in court records that a series of video clips lasting almost 15 minutes and showing a 2-year-old were "one of the most violent and brutal attacks on a child of any age that he has seen captured on video."

Bradley was released from Sussex Correctional Institution Thursday after posting bail on the initial felony charges of second-degree rape, first-degree unlawful sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child.

Those charges stemmed from two incidents in late October and again last week involving a 2-year-old girl.

After his initial arrest Wednesday, Bradley was suspended from the staff of Beebe Medical Center.

He surrendered to detectives in Georgetown at 8:30 a.m. Friday on eight counts of first-degree rape where the victim is less than 16 years old, three counts of second-degree rape, 14 counts of sexual exploitation of a child by photo or film and endangering the welfare of a child -- all felonies.

"We contacted him and gave him the opportunity to turn himself in," said state police Cpl. Thomas Guarini.

Bradley was returned to jail in lieu of $2.9 million cash bail.

State police said he has been the focus of a yearlong criminal investigation stemming from numerous complaints of inappropriate touching of female patients.

According to court records, Bradley kept video recordings made with a hand-held device in what he called the "Pinocchio" examining room, a toy room in the basement of his office where children would get treats and an out-building on the rear of his property where he would escort the children without their parents.

The videos date back to Aug. 7. The last recording was made Sunday, police said in court records.

In the last recording, a 2- to 3-year-old girl was seen screaming and trying to run away from Bradley, according to court records.

The state Attorney General's Office also is involved in the investigation, according to spokesman Jason Miller.

The agency provides specialized services to victims of crime and their families through its Victim Services Unit.

In cases involving young victims, its social workers and victim services specialists work with parents and their child to provide the appropriate care and support, he said.

OMG! After reading that... who in the world would leave their 3 month old (or even 2 yr old) ALONE with the ped?! I mean, wouldn't that raise a red flag right there? Yuck... that makes me sick to my stomach.

OMFG.  I won't be able to sleep tonight after reading that. 

I also kind of thought at first, why weren't the parents w/ the kids, or why was he alone w/ them, but then I thought, God, you know, you trust your pediatrician.  Who knows what he told the parents?  I am pretty sure if my pediatrician had told me that she needed to take DS to another room for a minute for whatever reason, I would have probably let him go.  I never would have thought to *not* trust my doctor.  Like, doctor trust is sacred.  That's why this is so f-ed up on such a f-ing f-ed up level.  Oh my God. Awful.

I think parents are just way too trusting.  Doctors are human beings, too, and susceptible to crimes as well.  This story is just so sad, and it makes me furious, scared, and disgusted that it happened so close to home.

I"m not blaming those parents at all because this one sick f*ck but even though I don't think DS's pedi would ever do anything like this I would never in a million years leave him alone.  My OB and Pedi had a verbal confrontation with DH because DH wanted to be in the room when they did the circumcision and they were adamant that he was not in there.  Other then when the ENT doctor clipped DS's tongue, that may be the only time DS has ever been left alone but it was always in the company of more then one doctor (i.e. nurse and my OB with his circumcision).

1) Where were the parents? Staff? Who lets a Dr take a child alone?

2) Why did the investigators take a year and allow more children to become victims?

I am just horrified!
