I usually make a turkey or ham but I am thinking about doing all different kinds of finger foods this year. I would make the options well rounded but am wondering if it would be satisfying enough. WDYT?
and even if there's enough food, isn't there something about sitting down for a "traditional Xmas dinner" that is appreciated by most people and the tapas thing would kill that and disappoint your guests?
We always just do tapas and various appetizers on Christmas Eve. We are usually liquored up on gin and tonics though, which is why a sit down dinner isn't as appealling. I'm not sure if your family is like that.....

this. no one feels like sitting down to eat when they're all schnockered. Christmas Day is usually regular dinner, though.

We havent done a big dinner for either night in YEARS. Why should one person be stuck in a kitchen slaving over a hot stove when they should be having fun joining in on the festivities.
We do hot & cold appetizers during the day that everyone munches on. Then for dinner its a hot and cold buffet where most of the stuff was prepared the day before plus everyone chips in bringing stuff.

My favorite verse!
I am eating like that for dinner tonight-- lots of cheeses, tangerines and grapes, smoked salmon and cream cheese on little bagels, smoked baby clams, and wine.
