Re: zantac Question

  • We started Zantac at 2 months and it made a huge difference.  They can outgrown their dosage though, so if her symptoms come back in a month or so let your doctor know and they will up the dosage.

PS. Don't give your 1 month old Hershey Syrup.  That pharmacist is a loon.

LOL the pharmacist put it IN the medicine so i have to give it to her lol i called the pediatrician though... she said it was fine to give her the medicine even with the hersheys in it.

  • I was in the same boat. We us the Nutramigen as well and the Zantac. But our pedi also said to add 1tbs. of rice cereal per ounce of formula. We started this at about 4 weeks and he is a different baby. The rice cereal helps because its much thicker so it stays down better which in turn helps with spitting up and vomiting that are common in reflux babies. We noticed a difference in about a day and a half with the zantac. The sypmtoms came back at month two and he had grown so the doctor uped the dosage and he was good. After he eats do you prop her up for thirty minutes to an hour? If it is real bad you can also elevate one end of the matress. But burnping often during a feeding and keeping them propped up for a good amount of time afterwards will help as well. I would suggest trying the rice cereal too. I know how aweful it is to see you baby hurt like that and these things totally  turned things around in our home. Good Luck! There are also many products out there for reflux babies. i.e. napnanny, ar pillow, tucker sling, etc.
