S/O - If your DH has had a vasectomy

Did you have to sign off on it?  I swear, I feel like my DH is the only guy who was able to just go and get one and I wouldn't have ever known if he hadn't told me.  Is it a law?  Maybe only in some states?  I understand why my DH got his - 3 kids in 2 years is a lot - but I still sometimes think I might like one more baby in a few years.

Nope, I didn't have to sign off. I certainly hope that's not standard procedure for most places. Seems wrong, IMO.

Nope.  It's the same thing as you getting your tubes tied.  While he would certainly know if you did that, it's your body and you don't need his permission to do so.

Yes, I did have to sign a consent.  Because we are married and his sterility affects me too, I guess.  I don't know whether it's a law in our state (NJ) or whether this particular doctor does it to cover his a$$ or what.

Did you husband really just march over to the doc one day and get it done without discussing it with you first??

No! Sorry if it sounded that way.  I was fed up with the mini-pill and breastfeeding and called him at work one day to tell him if he was sure he was done having kids, he could call and check into a vasectomy.  Like 15 minutes later, he called me back with an appointment for a month later.  While I would love to have another baby someday, I feel like 3 is a more than fair place for him to feel finished.  I just think it's interesting that other wives had to sign off on it whereas I was never consulted and wouldn't have had to know.

Nope didn't have to.
