2nd Trimester

Low lying placenta

I went to my peri today for my cervical length check. Since I am 18w 4d he went ahead and did the big u/s, which was exciting. I have my other one scheduled with my OB for the 28th, so I feel double lucky.

Anyway, everything looks good, baby is actually measuring big!

He did mention that my placenta is low. He didn't seem worried and said just to watch for bleeding and sais this usually resolves itself. I was just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this?

Re: Low lying placenta

  • Mine is...I was spotting at 15 weeks, Dr did an u/s determined it was low, believes it will clear up on its own. Just no sex, and no MAJOR activity, and they just want to monitor from here on out.

  • I am on restricted activity and pelvic rest due to incompetent cervix, so I guess that is why he didn't bother to give me any more restrictions! thanks!
  • I just found out I have the same thing. My doctor said it will probably correct itself in the 3rd tri & they'll check it again when I'm about 30 weeks. I have not had any bleeding and they didn't tell me to avoid sex or anything.
