2nd Trimester

NBR: NC girls, if you were me . . .?

Would you drive from Wilmington to Raleigh this evening?  I'd planned on leaving right after I get off work at 5:30pm.  I'm seeing so many conflicting weather reports, some show snow starting in Wake Co this afternoon, others show rain until 8:00 or so.  For the record, I was born and raised in eastern NC so I have very, very little experience driving in winter weather.  I got a Volvo V50 a couple of months ago and I have no idea how it would handle in snow/sleet.  And, despite my missing ticker, I am 14w5d with some very precious cargo!!

And those of you in the Triangle, what's the weather doing right now?

Thanks!

  • It's really nasty here in the north ATL if you go just be careful and if you feel in danger pull over!

  • Its not suppose to start until later this evening so if your gonna arrive before it gets dark I think you should be fine.  I'm not really sure when the rain is suppose to exactly start but thats what its gonna start as not straight snow.

  • I'm in the Triangle, and yes I would drive.  There is so much more hype than anything else (almost always is).  We're actually driving 45 minutes tonight to go to my mom's birthday dinner.  We just had about 20 minutes of sleet/snow but it is way too warm outside for anything to stick.  It's all melted except for what is on our porch.  Tonight's low is predicted to be above freezing.  GL!
  • I'm not in NC but no.  It will be dark and quite frankly, it's just disgusting outside (we're having the same weather).  I would wait until morning.
  • I live about 15 miles north of Charlotte.  I wouldn't risk it unless it was something very, very important.  It's not so much about the roads being all that bad but you can't control how other people drive.  It will be dark and even with just a chance of nasty weather...I'd stay put.

  • I lived in the triangle for some time before moving to eastern NC..I live in idaho now..and grew up in Buffalo NY....Personally the amount of snow that NC gets is a joke to me, and everyone there acts like its a frakn crisis everytime the weather man even thinks the word snow...

Personally, I'm going to tell you to stay off the roads. Not because I think they're bad, but because everyone else in the state does and drives like raving idiots in that kind of weather there. My family lives in the burlington area, and they tell me its snowing there now.
