what theme did you use for your DS's 1st bday?

I am starting to throw around some ideas. It will be in February and my time is short (I am one of those full-time working mom's). Can anyone share any ideas, websites or other things you used for the planning? Thanks!

  • DS#2's birthday is in April so I did a baseball/Phillies themed party to coincide with opening weekend Smile

    Kelly Monaghan's 5K - 5/15/11 - 3rd Place in AG

  • Check out birthday express and celebrate express. We used the theme called first birthday boy I think.

  • Noah's wasn't a theme, but everything was light blue and brown.

Maren's is already in the works.  It is going to be a pajama party at our house.  I'm serving bunchy type food and going to set pillows in our trampoline outside for a pillow fight for the bigger kids. Mimosas and bloody marys are a must too for moms and dads.

  • Sponge Bob. And yes, he was obsessed with him even then. Best part? Ian has requested a Sponge Bob birthday this year as well and what do you know, but I still have his decorations from his 1 year. Woot.
  • We had a bug theme in September.  We did picnic food (had it at the park) - fruit salad, burgers/hotdogs, macaroni salad.  Made dirt cakes for the kids.  The favors were little personalized bug cases with bug/flower foam stickers, 'real' plastic bugs, homemade caterpillar butter cookies, and some little chocolate bars.
  • No theme for 1st bdays.  Fire trucks for age 2, trains and tractors for 3.

DD was no theme, elmo, no theme, little einsteins, this one probably a space theme.

  • We went with a rubber ducky theme.  I used the Munchkin inflatable duck tub as an ice chest/cooler, I found rubber ducky mini pinatas and used them as a weight for the balloons, gave out birthday themed rubber duckies as part of the favor and used a couple of them on top of the cake.  Everyone loved it.

DS#2 will be a Monkey theme!

  • DD's birthday is coming up in January, we're not doing a theme, but the colors will be pink and green. Not sure about food yet.
  • Teddy bears, blue and pink and brown color scheme- I have boy girl twins, 2nd bday was monkeys, next birthday i'm thinking pirates & princesses
  • Elmo :)  He loved the This Big book with Elmo, so it seemed like his favorite thing at the time.
