High FSH

 Hey ladies,

I hope you don't mind me posting here...  (also posted on TTTC)

I am not new to the bump but had to change my identity since some one I knew IRL knew who I was :(

Anyway, I just found out thatI have really high levels of FSH. It was 16.5. I am under 30 and so I am so confused as to why it is this high!! So terrified that I am not going to be able to have a healthy baby because of FSH numbers...  I have an amazing RE that I just started working with. I am Clomid and start inj. tom. with an appt to check on follies on Monday! Hopefully we will trigger shortly after for the IUI but I am so bummed to hear about this at such a young age!

Any thoughts?

TIA!!

Re: High FSH

  • Have you asked the dr. what high FSH entails?

  • Loading the player...
  • Some people have high FSH, even at a young age.

Did your RE address the FSH with you before starting your protocol?

You'll likely get more technical info on this on the IF board. I would strongly suggest posting there as well.

    Good luck.

I had a brief talk with him on the phone... I will discuss more at our appt. on Monday.

  • According to my RE, high FSH doesn't mean much on it's own, just like an FSH number within range doesn't mean much either. The follicle ultrasound will give them more information, but they should be looking at the entire set of results.

Have you already done the CD21 bloodwork and the HSG? I'm surprised they already have you on medication and gearing up for an IUI in the same cycle as the FSH test Tongue Tied

  • The doctor will be able to tell you more. I am surprised that you are already undergoing a treatment cycle before having a detailed discussion with your RE about your levels and how that can impact your response to meds.

The first order of business with my RE was a monitored cycle, then a meeting afterwards to discuss all the results before coming up with a treatment plan.

  • Jinx! Yogi owes me a coke. I am a bit skeptical of this RE from the little I have read.

    That makes 2 of us
