Who is announcing at Christmas?

How are you planning to tell your families? I'm contemplating saying, "I have a surprise to show you," and then pulling out the sonogram photos. Hopefully it won't take them too long to figure it out.

We are! We are giving our parents ornaments that say 'soon to be grandparents' on Christmas day. I can't wait to see their reactions!

I would have loved to go the sonogram picture route, but we haven't had that yet. We wrapped up 'I love you grandpa' and 'I love you grandma' bibs for my parents with a little note on them that says "I'll be here in August". We plan to give those to them this weekend we they come over for early Christmas. We haven't decided how we are telling DH's parents yet, but we are waiting until we see them for Christmas.

I'm strongly considering it, even though I really wanted to wait until after the first u/s on the 30th.  I'm a video camera fanatic on holidays, so I was thinking it would be fun to have the announcement captured on video in a way they won't even suspect it's coming since I'm always in their face with "Say Merry Christmas to the camera!" anyways.  

 

I don't have any fun ideas on how to reveal it though.  I'd love to hear from others.

I am.... I'm going to give them a card and tell them DH and I made them 'something' i.e. Grandma, Aunt, etc. will be written inside.

We are. Well we are traving to CA for christmas and next wednesday when we fly in we are going to tell them. Havn't quite figured out yet, but depends on what happens at my dr appointment tomorrow...hoping for a picture to show them!

We are too.  We framed pictures of the positive pregnancy test, since it's too soon for ultrasound pictures.   We also got my parents books on naming the grandparents since this is their first.

We already told my parents, but we are wrapping up this poem and having the great grandparents open this:

This Christmas we have a special present to share,

This is a gift that requires extra love and care.

It's not bright and shiny, or wrapped in a bow,

We just know that you'll treasure and love it so.

Since as you can see this card is empty.

Well, you can't play with this present today,

Because it hasn't arrived yet I'm sorry to say.

The wait is well worth it we want you to know!

yup! I can't keep this secret any longer! I have another u/s on Tuesday, which will hopefully show more than just a circle (the first u/s was the gestational sac/yolk sac). I'm going to frame them in grandparent frames, and just give them as gifts. They are going to flip, because they thought we were waiting to do any more treatments until after the New year!

I cant wait to tell my mom so I am sending her a Christmas card with the quote " Digi camera $150, Memory card $25, Printing Christmas cards $15.  Realizing there are more that two people in this photo - Priceless.  You have until 8/25/2010 to come up with better grandparent names than The Grand Chawhee & Poopah"  The last part is an inside joke.

 We are putting a big bro shirt on our dog for Dh's parents, since they consider him a grandson..

We just decided that we will tell our families on Christmas if everything goes well at my doctor's appointment on Monday. We will be visiting DH's family so we will tell them in person and we will tell my family when we call them. They live really far away so we weren't planning to see them till maybe next Summer.

We are planning to tell DH's family when we visit them in OH next week for Christmas.  We will tell my family when we see them on the 1st.  We will be 8 weeks next week, and have our first sonogram scheduled for Monday (this coming Monday).  We bought Grandparents frames, and will put a sono picture in each one.  For our siblings, we had bibs made that say "I Love My Aunt _____" and "I Love My Uncle _____"  Can't wait to share the good news with them!!!

We are, on Christmas eve.  I have framed pictures similar to the one in my siggy.  We are handing them out to be opened at the same time.  Grandparents will also get some u/s pics.

We're telling extended fam on Christmas.  Announcing stuff on Christmas is kind of our thing, since we did that when we got engaged. 

My one Aunt was out getting stuff from her car at the time, and had no idea for like two hours (no one realized she missed hearing the news).  We might try to play this up this time, and tell her last again.  Or, she might get to be the first to know.  Not sure yet.

i'm going to wear a shirt that has a picture of a present on my belly, and the words "don't open until july 3, 2010" and see how long it takes for people to figure it out.

While our parents already know, the extended family does not. So on xmas eve when we go to the family party DH is wearing a tshirt he bought that says "I heart my pregnant wife" and we'll see how long it takes for everyone to notice....

Both out families are having a dinner together a few days before Christmas.  We are going to let them open these together at the dinner.  We are going to try to video tape their reactions.

We are too! Giving both sets of parents (we all celebrate together) frames with double openings- one pic of DD in her Big Sis shirt and one u/s pic. Can't wait!

Our immediate famlies know, but we are going to announce at Christmas to my husband's extended family. They always open presents either Round Robin or everyone opens a different gift at once. So we are going to wait until all of the other presents are done and then pass out a special gift for everyone. Although we planned on having T-Shirts made - time was an issue - so we decided on Coffee Mugs that say "Great Aunt/Uncle Whoever" and "Uncle/Aunt Whoever." The ones for the guys are blue and green and then the ones for the ladies are pink and green.

We made photo calendars of DD for parent's gifts this year.

On the July page, DD is in a "Big sister to be" shirt, and I wrote on the page "From Little Chick to Big Sister" and put a note on the due date.

We're attaching a note to the calendar that says "We think you'll like Miss July the best".

We don't live near family, so I wanted to do something fun.
