Starting to get scared :/

I started reading up on H's varicocele surgery and now I am scared. I need to call the doctor's office to see exactly which procedure he is undergoing, but there is one called "varicocele embolization" when they go up through the femoral vein and insert a little metal coil at the base of the bad vein to promote a clot so that the vein gets blocked off. They want to promote a clot????? Eeeek. I can't even imagine what I would do if something happened to my H. I would feel so guilty and sad. And what are the chances of that clot going anywhere else? I mean, what if it dislodges years later and goes to his brain or his heart? I know I'm probably being irrational, but it's scary. Huh?

That is scary and a lot to process! I know I was freaked when they were going into my H's balls for the TESE. Make a list of questions and call the doc. The more info you have from him the better. ((HUGS)) I hope you get some answers and reassurance soon.
And fingers crossed for an easy surgery for your H next week!

I think the dr's office would be able to explain the risks and benefits to you. I'd be on the phone with them ASAP to see how it's done.

My husband has a vascular disorder that is related to clotting. When you get a clot in a tiny blood vessel, the vessel basically shrivels up and dies. So while I can't say for sure, I don't think you have to worry about embolisms in the future.

Are the risks mentioned in the paperwork. If there was even the tiniest chance, I would imagine it would be in large print for you to sign off on. Definitely call you doctor, though. I am sure they can address your concerns.

step away from Google

and go call your doctor. I would think that they wouldn't promote anything that would have any huge risks for him. And hopefully it's something that they deal with everyday in their profession - so they know what they are doing.
