Holy crap, I need to stay off 12-24

They are over there posting about how potty training is going with their 16/17 month olds!

"Ugh, he won't tell me when he needs to go!"

WTF!  I always leave there feeling like a crap parent, because my 15 month old is nowhere near doing the things they claim their's are.

  • Oooooh boy. I don't doubt there are kids out there who are ready to PT at that age (I think zacook's Bentlie did- well, maybe more like 18 months), but the majority are NOT READY. Not. My DS PTed at 2.5 and I was shocked he was ready that early because boys tend to PT later than girls and I didn't think it would happen until he was closer to 3.

I get so bored over here some days, but I also fear to venture to other boards too much because of stories like this.

  • Oh, please. I can't get my 3 year old to tell me. He still runs screaming at the suggestion that he sit on the potty.

They have a loooooong road ahead of them if they are training that early.

  • I really did almost comment on that post, but all I had to say was snarky and mean thought I would save that for this board, and the drama we are expecting you to start on here today!

Oh and you probably just don't realize that if you can potty train your 16 month old it means they are a genius.Tongue Tied

  • Wowza.

I read on another board that there was a lot of dramz on 12-24 yesterday - someone's husband left them the day before their c/s or something?  Insanity.

    That place sounds cuckoo.

  • Yes, I'm sure there are some kids that can do it at that age.  But to be all huffy that your 16 month old TODDLER isn't getting it enough to tell you when he has to go is ridic, IMO.

Around here we are happy when DS "tells" us (by saying oooh, oooh and pointing at the kitchen counter) that he wants a drink of water.

  • My friend potty trained hers around 12 months. She's constantly telling me I need to PT Maile and can't get why I don't want to. She actually told me last night that she went back to diapers because she was sick of getting mad at the baby for going in her pants. If I complained about one of my kids having an accident, she'd chime in with "Oh, I know, ____ peed in her pants TWICE today!" Yeah, she's a baby. They tend to do that.

I'm perfectly fine with a baby in diapers. It's not like it's that hard to change a diaper, and I don't have to worry about changing clothes all the time!

This just made me laugh. There is no way in hell DS will be ready to potty train in three months, in fact this morning he told me he wanted cheerios by knocking them off the table, pooring them on the floor and eating them. Genius I tell you, I don't need potty training to tell me that.

Don't rely on me for entertainment today.  I've got a ton of shet to do and an even bigger ton of gifts to wrap.  I'll be on and off.  So... I'm appointing Eclaires as funstarter today.  And, go!

Yes!!!!  Does this mean I am your right hand man?  LOL.

On the downside, I've got so much crap to do, I'm only on right now waiting for my kid to wake up.

  • Doood. Haven't you figured out yet that all the crazies hang out on the baby/toddler month boards? Many of those girls are freaking certifiable.

  • LMAO my dd didn't PT til her 3rd birthday, the horrors.

Is that freakazoid camallama over there of something?

eta clearly I need coffee.  OR something.

  • How does a child that age have the ability to tell someone? Both of older two were verbally advanced (yeah, I said it) but that was still just single words, maybe a phrase or two.  That board sounds annoying.
  • Eh, I'm guilty of the early potty stuff, sort of. I'm not really potty training dd, but she does show interest in her potty chair and I let her run around naked a few hours everyday. Most of the time she manages to pee/poop in her potty, but only if she's naked. I figure that if she poops in the toilet a couple times a day then right on- that's two less sh!tty diapers that I then have to rinse out and wash. But, I have no expectation of her actually being potty trained anytime soon. It's just fun naked time with the added bonus of fewer dirty diapers.

Then again, she's not 15/16 months either, LOL.

Overall though I totally know what you mean about that board. It seems like the board is full of very advanced children or parents who exaggerate. My own dd is much more "typical" in her development, maybe even a little on the slower side when it comes to certain areas (she was a very late walker, late to roll over, late to show any interest in solids, has a bit of a speech delay- I'm not too worried, it will all even out eventually.) I like to respond on those kind of threads so that not every parents thinks that their 17 month old is behind because he's not speaking in full sentances with proper grammatical structure.

hahaha Camallama?  now THAT is a blast from the nest....

didn't she "GBCN" like 85 times?

Just as I  was reading this post, my older DD came to me to wipe her nose.  Forget PT, I'm beyond happy she doesn't let it run down her face anymore.
