Lately, Zoey has started waking up WAY too early (usually around 4:00 AM), and I'm not sure what to do to change it. She has always been an early riser - getting up between 5:00 and 5:30, but 4:00 is just NOT okay. So, I'm wondering if I need to push back her bedtime.
She currently goes to bed around 7:00, which I know is early but she is exhausted by then and will start to get crabby. And she goes right to sleep when I put her in the crib, so I know she is tired. I have tried streching her bedtime until 7:30, or even 8:00 some nights, but she wakes up at the same time anyways, so it doesn't even seem to matter. A friend at work suggested to me that if I just start giving her a later bedtime consistently, she will eventually start to sleep later.
WDYT? If your baby is STTN, what time is bedtime? And what time does he/she wake up for the day?
Re: What is your LO's bedtime and wake-up time? (if STTN)
We have been very lucky that E is a good sleeper, and has been all along. I used to have to wake him up to feed him in the beginning. Now he is going to bed between 9 and 10 and waking up between 7-7:30 (he is still sleeping). However, he is not a really good napper during the day (neither are either of his parents
. He takes several cat naps. I am wondering if this will change as he starts moving more (ie. rolling, etc..). We have him out and about almost every day and he will nap then, but not good at napping at home, and definitely not in his crib...yet.
L goes to bed pretty consistently at 7:30 and is usually up between 6 - 6:30. I nurse him in bed when he wakes and sometimes he falls back to sleep for a little bit, but not always. No matter when he goes to bed, he's always up right around the same time.
I'd do what PP suggested. Go in and comfort and try to get LO back to sleep. I'd try to not pick her up, give a pacifer (if she takes one) and pat/rub her back. Hopefully, she'll get the message after a couple of nights.
Well we have a little nightowl on our hands..
Eve's bedtime is 10.. sometimes its closer to 10:30 by the time she actually goes down. I prefer her to sleep til at least 8. Lately, she's been waking up a little too early, this morning she woke up at 6 and again at 7.. and we've been going in laying her back down and sometimes she will go back to sleep.. or sometimes we let her CIO for awhile. I just don't want her getting in the morning whenever she wants and thinking she can scream and get out of her crib.

We moved Evan's bedtime for the same reason...he started getting up earlier and earlier....and since I stay at home I really didn't want to get up before 7 each day.
So we're at about 9pm - 8am right now. But this am he didn't get up till 9.
Ian goes to bed around 8pm. He's never been a late sleeper - he's usually up by 6:30 both during the week and weekends. If he were to sleep until 7 or later, it would be a miracle! We've tried putting him to bed a little later, but he is truly ready to go at 8pm, so any later would just mean he gets overtired and it's that much harder to get him to sleep.
Every once in a while he will go through spurts of waking up between 5 and 6am. This time, I think it happens to be because he's cutting teeth. Other times, there doesn't seem to be a reason for it. It may last for a week or so, then go back to his usual.
Evan just dropped his 4am feeding, and is now sttn (yay!)
He goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes around 6:30-7, but will sometimes sleep until 7:30 if I'm lucky!
How many naps is she taking? Maybe she's ready to drop one?
Thanks for all the input and advice ladies
Well, I think that I am going to try to give it another week or so sticking to her normal bedtime and see what happens and then if the 4:00 wake up time keeps up, maybe I will experiment with a later bedtime while I am off of work for Christmas vacation.
Honestly, I really like her going to bed by 7:00 because now that this first tri exhaustion is setting in, I don't have a ton of energy to be playing with her and entertaining her after teaching for a full day. And I'm reluctant to keep her up too long when she is clearly exhausted by 7:00 since she falls asleep within minutes of me putting her in the crib.
So, I guess I will just wait it out and see what happens for now...
