I had my 35 week appointment today. The babies did well on their biophysical and NST but the doc did not like the way my bloodwork came out and really did not like my swelling - so he made the decision for us and said I am delivering on Monday. I will be exactly 36 weeks.
I am very nervous (how will the babies do?) but the doc feels confident that all will be well.
My daughter (she is almost 5) did not take the news particularly well - she only wants me to bring one home. :-)
I am very excited to meet my babies - but definitely scared as well.
Re: Having c-section on Monday...
Pre-congratulations for Monday.
I bet they will do fine at 36 weeks. One of my friends had her twins at 34w4d and they were in the NICU for 4 days just to gain some weight, that was it. No breathing issues or other preemie issues at all. And I remember in Dr. Luke's book that multiple gestation babies tend to mature a little faster in general, so that should also hopefully be on their side.
Good luck!
Thanks!
We have mixed feelings b/c I really wanted to get to at least 37 weeks. Since I have been so miserable I have confined myself to bed to rest it out. The doc did not agree so out they will come.
Of course he had to tell me a story of a woman he saw yesterday who was "taller than me so she could hold the babies better" (???) who was 36 weeks and just rocking the pregnancy. So I left feeling pretty bad - that my body could not handle it anymore.
36w is not bad at all - they should do just fine. Might need a little NICU but might not need it at all (my DS1 was born at 36w and only had some jaundice- he was in the room with us right away).
best of luck! keep us posted!
I had my babies at 35weeks and they needed no NICU. in fact, they had their 4-month appt, they are both perfect and healthy in every way possible.
congrats to you!!
It will be great I had mine at 36 weeks and stayed in my room with me the entire time and came home with me.
I also had a c section......it's not that bad:) Good luck! Congrats!
