Can I have Subway if the damn meat is heated?

It's all I want and DH has chosen to be Mr. Protective now. Pretty sure it just needs to be heated to 165, right?

  • I've had Quizno's for the past 2 days in a row....

  • I promise you can have lunchmeat - cold or heated. When I was in the hospital, my nurses would bring me cold sandwiches as snacks. If you really are worried, ask to have it toasted.
  • I literally lived off Subway for a good week and a half.  I had them heat the meat each time...just to be safe.

  • Tell him that moderation is key, and you can eat it cold if want to!

  • i've had reg. unheated subway & other deli meats multiple times and i'm not dead yet......

heat it if you want but as long as the resturant isn't nasty you should be just fine.

  • Thank you. DH is like, 'You need to call the doctor." Um no, I am not going to waste her time to ask her a question about a sandwich. He is THISCLOSE right now. Super Angry

  • If the meat is from a reputable place with high turn-over (like Subway) then you are definitely fine.  I doubt you would eat at a place that has flies crawling over the meat that has been sitting in the cold case for 3 weeks.  Anyway, I had a turkey and cheese sandwich for the first time in my pg last night and it was GLORIOUS!!!!!  DO IT!
  • DH just got a good talkin to ;) I will be dining on Subway shortly.

  • For the record, I am not reheating my meat.  I am avoiding sprouts though, which I usually have on my Jimmy John's sub, because if there was some listeria hiding out, one would hard pressed to find it in my turkey, but sprouts are good harborers of listeria.

  • I asked my Doc about lunch meat and he said that the meat is 'as safe as the deli you get it at' so as long as they are clean, you are fine!
  • Eat subway.  The lunchmeat thing is ridiculous IMO
  • I had Subway last night. So yum. If you're worried, get it toasted.

  • I can't believe you haven't found out the answer to this question. Isn't this question asked like 2x a day...once in the AM and once in the PM here? I love subway. I don't heat every sandwich I get there. I even eat tuna sandwiches.
  • Seriously, if you're going to worry about lunch meat, it's going to be  a looonnngggg 10 months
