s/o ginghers

Are they that much better than Fiskars?

And if so, are the 8" dressmaker shears a good general sewing scissor to get?

Re: s/o ginghers

  • I kind of think of Fiskars as disposable. Whereas ginghers are more weighty and seem like they'd last a lifetime. I would still expect them to get dull after time, but hopefully you have a sharpening place around you. Our local Hancock has a guy come in twice a year to do knife and scissor sharpening.

  • Yes they are a million times better - however...use them ONLY for fabric. If you cut paper and other misc. things with them and then expect them to be better than Fiskars - you'll be sorely disappointed.

BTW, they're (or were on Sunday) 50% off at Joann Fabrics.
  • Fabulous! Mom's Fiskars were always treated that way growing up- don't you dare use those on paper!- I think I've found a Christmas gift for her :)
  • OH YES! If she loves "special scissors" that's a perfect one.

Also, if they're not 50% off you can always use the 40% coupon on them!
