I'm throwing my secretary a "grandma shower" on Thus thursday. It's her first grandchild and her daughter lives in Houston.
I'm getting her a basket of gifts to keep at her house for when the baby comes to visit.
What are other things besides food to have at the shower? Pictures of her daughter? Any poem/sayings about grandmas?
Re: Grandma Shower, need some ideas
Wow! What a great idea - so thoughtful! I feel like Grandmas are kind of known for cooking/ baking, so what about having everyone bring a favorite recipe from their grandmother to assemble into a book to give her? Also sometimes women don't like to be called "grandma" so what about having everyone suggest or vote on an alternative name... For example my grandma is really hip and can even send text message so we call her G-ma!
As far as gifts: the book - 365 Things to Do with Your Grand kids, the Grandmother figurine from Willow Tree, a picture frame that says something about Grandma/ Grandkids, personalized gifts that say things like "I Love Grandma" for baby to wear, signs/ apron that say "Grandma's House/ Kitchen", and a disposable camera with a brag book. Also, those books she can fill out about her life/ memories to one day give to the child: https://books.barnesandnoble.com/search/results.aspx?WRD=grandmother&box=grandmother&pos=-1&SZE=10
Here are some quotes - you could put these in the recipe or brag book:
These are so cute! I love them. And super sweet for you to be throwing her a grandma shower. I bet she's super excited.
What a sweet idea!
I've seen a few books about being a Grandma, those would be nice to have out on the table and then she could keep them. I bought two for my mom- one is full of ideas of things to do with your grandkids and the other is one where you fill in the blanks about when you were born and what your favorite color is, etc.
