2nd Trimester

Did you have a separate appointment for your Glucose test?

I'm thinking I remember that she just had me do it with no warning around this time with DS#1.  I guess I should probably fast until my appointment at noon just in case. I failed the one hour last time and had to do the three hour which sucked.

So did you go to a regular check up and they just had you do it then?  Or did they schedule you a separate appointment?

Re: Did you have a separate appointment for your Glucose test?

  • I scheduled my appointments along with the 1 hour test both times {once at 27w with DS and once at 8w with this baby.}

    The 3 hour test was it's own appointment.

    And usually the 1 hour is not fasting.

  • With DD #1 I had my glucose test at my 28 week appointment.  I was still allowed to eat a light breakfast.  They did it at my regular appointment.  They gave me the drink when I checked in and after my appointment was done I had my blood drawn at the lab.  It was really fast and easy.

    I did have the 3 hour as just a lab appt last time but I ate before the 1 hour with DS and I barely failed it so I'm not taking that chance again!  lol  But I swear at my regular check up she just said we're doing the Glucose and we did it.  It's been a few years so I can't really remember...just that I had wished I hadn't eaten.

  • Mine will be a separate appt because I have to go to a testing lab for it.  My MW's office doesn't draw blood.

    I hear ya.  I don't think it matters if you eat though.  I ate healthy (and actually had the same exact thing both times!!) before both of my 1 hour appointments.  I failed the 1 hour with DS and passed the 1 hour with this baby!

    GL to you!

  • It's along with the regular Dr. appt. Also I don't have to fast but they recommended limited sugar in the day preceding the appt and no sugar the morning of - they recommended an egg on toast for breakfast.
