How long for reflux meds to start working?

I got to give her 1 dose of each medication last night but she still had a really bad night: fussy, blurped 2 bottles, cried out, arched back. She hasn't gained weight in a week either and I'm so worried.

  • It seems to me, that it did take 1-2 weeks to really kick in.  Can you give some Mylicon too?  Our son's reflux really didn't get better, until he switched to soy formula.  The gi doctor told us it was something in the way proteins in regular milk based formula can really aggravate reflux.

  • Our pedi told us 2-3 weeks for Prevacid to make a marked difference.

  • It was a few days before I saw an improvement, but more like 2 weeks for the full effect. Don't give up!

I agree with this. Huge difference after the 3rd or 4th day, and MUCH MUCH better within 2-3 weeks with the Prevacid. I will say that we had her on Zantac for a few weeks and that didn't do a thing.

  • She was a little better after a couple of days, much better after a week and I think it fully kicked in around 2 weeks.  She was on prevacid.
