I read to my little guy (almost 6 weeks old) and I hold him and I talk to him but there's not much else he is responsive to yet. I put him on his belly for some tummy time and while he can lift his head just fine regardless of what I am doing with him or if I just let him be and watch him it puts him to sleep! He must feel secure on his tummy! (He can and does lift his head and turn it frequently though) I am always reading on all these ways to play with your baby though but my little guy doesn't really respond to most of them yet! I feel like I'm not doing enough to stimulate him though and he's going to develop slower because of me. Is this normal? Do any of you do anything different with your 6 week olds that you recommend? Sorry for all the posts tonight! Thanks!!
Re: Playtime with a 6wo
I'm doing tummy time, reading, and lots of talking. I introduced a couple of rattles that she likes. I also read that if you repeat what they say it's supposed to let them know you here them. It's supposed to mimic a conversation- who knows...
I have been doing the same things. LO is not to fond of rattles as of yet. He does like things with bell sounds and music. I sing ot my LO all the time. I did that when I was pregnant with him as well and would rub my stomach while doing it. The one song i did sing to him all the time while pregnant with him he responds to really well. We all talk to him and do some tummy time where I will lie on my side as well or put a mirror(toy) there for him to look into so it encourages him to want to pull that head up. I love reading to him as well. I read his books to him and then sometimes when I want to read a magazine i read that to him haha. Works for me.
And works for him for now.
