Good, Bad or Ugly? Someone rec'd one of FB and I am desperate enough to try. I would have to get an IL to come over here and sit while I ran out to get one, but if they are worth the effort, I will do it.
that is all I basically use. It cleans you out and flushes all that bad stuff away. You may not get a long relief of breathing but if your constant about it, it does help eventually. That is basically the only thing you can use when your pregnant too.
you can do the same thing w/a nasal aspirator, but get some force behind it rather than gravity (which is what the netti pot uses). just close off your throat and use I think 1 cup water 1 teaspoon salt

DH uses it everyday. He used to use nasal aspirator for about 2 years and switched to the neti pot about 6 months ago. While he says he likes the neti pot a little better, neither of them are good enough to get rid of all his nasal issues.
Great idea, Jojo! Off to try nasal aspirator tonight, off to buy the neti pot tomorrow. I don't usually have such awful sinus issues, this particular cold is just whooping my butt. Only once in a blue moon does one come along I can't seem to shake in a few days.
Side note, when I got preg with P, somehow I never had much allergy issues anymore. Its the strangest thing. I used to have to take Allegra year round, now I never need it.
I have used the neti pot and the squeeze bottle. I like the squeeze bottle a lot better than the neti pot. Sometimes I have success and can breathe after using it and other times it doesn't work as well. I think it is worth a shot if you feel bad.
Here is my official review of the nasal aspirator, just in case anybody needs a reference if they (God forbid) get as bad as I am right now.
So, first of all, Jojo, THANKS!
I made a solution of salt water and started working with the aspirator over the sink. My right nostril was so congested the water just went in and came directly out. I kept trying and eventually I got some flow to the other nostril and down my throat (sorry, its not the most pleasant experience...). When I blew my nose I could hear stuff breaking up in my ears, I will take that as a good thing. I switched sides and got better results since I wasn't as congested. Went back to the right side and started getting the right results. I am stopped up again, but I am feeling a little relief. So, in a pinch, get a nasal aspirator (clean it of course) and it will help.
love love the neti pot. My parents use it daily and it has cut down on their sinus infections. I also notice a big difference when I'm sick and use it. If I'm really sick, I often will do it 3x a day (2-3 x on each side each time) and it will break up the congestion.

I really think the salt water does wonders:)
