tmi--abscess?

this may get DD'd later, LOL.

i have this red owie lump between my leg and my crotchular area, right where the elastic of my underwear goes.  it's been there since saturday and gotten a little bigger.  

there isn't a head or anything on it to pop but i worry that i have some sort of funk.  WWYD?  and if you would call the doc, would you call the gyn or the regular doc?

    I had something like that and it hurt a lot.  I went to the ob and it was an abscess caused by hormones or something to that affect.  Call the gyno.

    Ouch! Never had that before... hmmm.... I gues being in the general crotchular vicinity I'd call the ob/gyn nurse and see what she had to say/see if she thought I needed to be seen.

    I get the a lot, esp after I shave.

    Feels like there's a lil 'pea under the skin? circular round raised "volcano" around it? sometimes there's a little pus or head that I can pick off (if I can get down there, lol) and I've seen some pretty nasty things come outta there. They usually last about a good week for me.

    If you should get anything weirder than what it is, or a fever, etc. signs of infection, call. But for now just keep the area free from irritation if possible (commando?) and you can soak it with a hot hot washcloth if you want to help bring it out. I use tea tree oil spray after I shave and that seems to help. Or I Nair.

    that's what i was thinking it was just in a weird spot and i guess is more painful since it's gettin rubbed all the time.

    Could also be folliculitis, I get it sometimes and a hot bath/hot compress helps to ease the pain.

    Sounds like an abscess.  They can be very painful.  I would call the OB to have them take a look.  In the meantime, you can use a warm compress to give some relief...wet a wash cloth with really hot water (from faucet) and wring out really well.  Fold up and place on the area in question.

    I would not suggest pinching, messing with, or trying to pop it...it will only make it worse.
