Long story short, I designed our cards and bought them from Winkflash. They finally came in the mail today, and the colors are too wrong for me to want to send them. I don't want to wait to get them mailed from an online place again. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced local place that can print matte photos?
And this background is dark brown, right? I feel like I'm going crazy. It's a very definite black in the Winkflash prints I got today.
Re: Best place for in-store photo prints?
We use WalMart. My mom swears by Walgreens.
Thanks! Do you know if you have to be a member?
I'm also looking into Walmart, but they're surprisingly expensive! I love Walgreens, but the one near me can't do matte.
My mom has had a lot of problems with their color.
She's gone so far as to print photos at Meijer, print the same ones at WalMart, then take both to Meijer to show them the problems with their color, and they insist it's just different methods of printing, and theirs are fine, even though it's obvious that the prints are not true to color.
I don't have any suggestions, but Allison is so darn cute in that picture!
I know several places don't do matte, like Walgreens which I think you already tried.
Bummer that Winkflash messed up your order. I feel bad that I recommended them to you:(

Don't feel bad. I had pretty much already decided to buy them there by that point, anyway. I guess I just need to learn my lesson. They've now messed up all three orders I've ever placed with them.
i think a lot of places for in-store can't do matte.
I know you can order through shutterfly and pick up at target so that might allow you to get the matte finish.
I go to biggs and pretty happy with the quality - not the best but probably the best out of the in store and get it now places. again you can't get matte but it isn't super shiney like most places.
good luck
Ritzpix.com allows you to upload your photo and you can have them print the photo in the Ritz Camera store for pickup. There is one in Kenwood. They do offer the matte option. They claim they will be done within an hour. I just ordered prints to go in our card from them, but I cannot attest to quality. I just knew I needed to get them printed, and did not want glossy. I will know more about the quality tomorrow night.
If you sign up on the site, you can use the code new16p to get 16 free prints. I did this and my charge is less than $5 total. They charge 21 cents for 4x6 prints. HTH.
Yes you do have to be a member - but they do a great job and are really inexpensive. DH prints almost all his photography there - and I think they had some pretty cute options for christmas cards. Ocassionally, I know DH will order prints online at adorama.com when he needs a larger number of wallets - and they seem to do a good job as well.
