Moms of girls...........

The post about the little girls saying her head hurt got me thinking.

Do you remember your mom doing your hair?

I remember my mom was a freak about our hair. We weren't allowed to cut it (not that we wanted it).

I just remember we could always tell what kind of day we were going to have with her depending on how tight our french braid(s) were.

And forget sassing my mother, she would pop (not hard) us on the head with the brush in mid "do" if we smart mouthed her.

Emilia and I have a nightly ritual. She gets undressed and we wash her hands and face and brush her teeth in the bathroom. While she plays in the water I brush her hair out and get all the tangles out. I love it. We spend about 10 minutes doing this and it is seriously my favorite time of day with her.

  • Audrey brushes her own like like Marcia Brady while I get her bed ready for bed and then I give it a couple of brushes while she clims in and that is my favorite time of day.

  • I remember how good it felt at the end of the day to take those braids or pony tails out.  They were so tight.

I do the same with Rory at night.  Brush teeth and comb out her hair. Smile

  • Kate hates to have her hair brushed or styled. HATES IT.  We do it every night after bath, but it is a battle and not my favorite time of day at all!
  • I do remember the brief period of time I had longish hair as a little girl in 2nd grade.  In general though I had short hair & so no memories of being tortured--LOL!  Winnie has super long hair (about to her butt) & I do torture her.  It is very stressful at times...when her hair was curlier it was worse.  Tess only has shoulder length so it's not usually horrible.  I can't brush my girls hair at night because it gets extremely tangled at night & they won't leave braids in (& I don't like braided hair that often).  I just don't brush it every day--I put it in ponytail on days we don't have time to do it.  Now they'll brush it, but they don't get anywhere near all the knots out.  I would cut it shorter but they want no part of that.
