Postpartum Depression

Insomnia anyone?

Just wondering if anyone has experienced insomnia AFTER starting anti-depressants? I know that insomnia itself is one of the side effects of PPD, and the like, but I never really experienced it until now after I've started meds?? Anyone else?? I'm thinking of asking my doc for some Ambien to help me sleep..?

  • yes. insomnia is a side affect of the meds....i have always had insomnia when i get stressed but it was constant when i was on the zoloft
  • I've always had bouts of it...pre-meds and still while on.  My counselor thinks that I may be better off with some ambien as well, and I'm on a very low dose of effexor for primarily anxiety.  I think that getting some quality sleep for once makes a world of difference in the way that you feel!

  • I took Ambien for 4-5 days when I was on Zoloft. It did wonders for me to get a solid night of sleep. I was pumping and it messed with my supply to miss those night pumps, but it was worth it. I think sleep deprivation is a big part of PPD.
