Really dumb question..

How long do these stupid/crappy colds last???  Robinson is feeling a ton better and running around playing, but after the breathing treatments I'm still getting a lot of junk out of his nose (although it's clear now and not green) and he still has a little cough...not nearly as frequent as it was.

We are supposed to stop the breathing treatments at lunch tomorrow, but I guess I'm just uneasy about stopping the breathing treatments if he still has a little cough....but I guess, like us, the stuffy nose and cough could last for weeks after, huh??

I'm just paranoid-  this is our first cold, can you tell??  :)

By the way-  we had a WONDERFUL trip.  Thank you all for your support, it was soooo nice to get 8 full uninterrupted hours of sleep and have dinner with husband and adult conversations!  Of course, I missed the little guy terribly!

Re: Really dumb question..

  • What I want to know is how you managed to go all this time without him getting sick!!?? Any advise?
  • DS had chronic ear infections/cold this fall and it really did last for weeks, like 4-5 weeks.  At one point, he was wheezing and on a nebulizer for a couple days, but his cough lingered for a bit after the treatments were over.  It is so frustrating, but I guess it is that time of year.  Hope your LO feels better.

I honestly think it was a lot of luck that we weren't around sick people...

I kept him completely in hibernation last winter/RSV season- no family functions, no holidays nada...it was rough, but worth it.

When RSV season was over, we just made sure he wasn't around anyone, especially kids, that were sick.  This fall, we've kept him away from school aged children as much as possible b/c the swine flu was so prevalent down here.  Other than, just a lot of handwashing!  :)

And I should add that his pedi says she hopes he has an immune system like DH and I...neither one of us has had a cold or been on antibiotics in over 4 years- we're pretty much freaks of nature in that category!  :)

Thanks!  That is what I'm thinking- that this cough will probably just linger for a few weeks...ugh, it's going to be a loooong winter!

  • I was told to keep Brandon on the nebulizer each time until his cough is gone. Usually he is on it for a week but this time he has been on it a week and a day already.
