Dr recommendation in or near edina?

Hi Ladies,

My husband and I are relocating to Mpls next weekend from Phoenix. I'm 20 weeks a long and will obviously need to find a obgyn asap. I would like to scheduled an appt for my 24 week appt, this week, so if something were to come up before then, I have someone to call. We will be living in Edina and our insurance allows us to choose anyone we want, so any recommendations would be appreciated. Also, and recs on hospitals to deliver at? I've heard mixed reviews about Fairview Southdale, which is the closest to where we will be living.

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi! Welcome! My Dr. is at obgyn specialists. They have an office in Burnsville and Edina. You can choose to deliver at Ridges or Fairview Southdale. I really like this office. Here is their website for more info. www.obgynpa.com

I really like Dr. Krista Olson and Dr. Larson, but all of the Dr.'s are great. I believe their is 7 total.

    Good Luck!

  • I see Dr. Jeffers at the Paul Larson OBGYN clinic in Edina. It's across the street from Fairview Southdale. She's a fabulous OB and my birth experience at Southdale was great (emotionally, not so much, but that's a different story!). Southdale doesn't have the fancy "birth suites" or what not, but I had a large, private room to labor and deliver in and a large, private room to recover in and the nurses were great. I also had a c-section, and that went really, really well. I was impressed with the speed (made the decision for the c/s at 7:15pm, he was out at 7:54pm) and the doctor did an excellent job and my recovery has been great.

Dr. Larson is great He was the one I had originally had planned but due to my son wanting to come REALY early and Dr.L had a planed C-S @ 9am Dr.Amy Chow (I think that was was the name, it's to late to think about it). Dr. L was the one to delived me many years ago.

  • I really liked Dr. Jacob at Diamond Women's Clinic: https://www.diamondobgyn.com/

They deliver at FV Sdale or Abbott Northwestern.

  • Dr Sarah Schmitz-Burns at Haugen Associates is fabulous and she has privileges at SD and Abbott.  We had a good experience at Abbott with a very difficult delivery...

  • My sister just gave birth at Abbott 2 weeks ago and loved it. If you want fancy it's not your place, but if you want good quality nurses and a well respected hospital then it is any easy choice. Ask your doc or nurse where she would have her own baby and she will probably say Abbott.
  • Ditto to what PP said about Abbott.  I delivered there with DD and the staff and experience were all great.  It's definitely not fancy but high quality.  There is also a lot of in-hospital support after delivery with class offerings on having a newborn, etc.

Also, I knew a nurse who worked at North Memorial Medical Center (which is a great hospital) and she had her baby at Abbott.

  • I had my daughter at North Memorial (which is maybe 20min or less from Edina) and loved it! The birthing rooms were spaceous and private and the recovery rooms were cozy. The nurses were all very friendly, helpful, and down to earth. We loved our experience there!

I was seeing Dr. Czernicki (sp!) at Obstetrics, Gynocology, and Infertility (OGI) -- which is in the Southdale Hospital on the 4th floor. He is very nice, informative, and professional. We ended up switching to a team of midwives (North Metro Midwives) because Dr. C didn't seem to agree with what we wanted in our birth plan. (We wanted to attempt a more natural, possible water birth.) I had seen him for my gynocological care and had felt very comfortable with him! I have no complaints with him or his office, other than the not too keen on the natural childbirth thing. (But, really, that's pretty typical of the majority of OB/GYNs out there!)

  • Hi Kate - I go to Dr. Christine Larson @ OBGYN West. They have offices in Eden Prairie and Minnetonka, and do most of their deliveries @ Fairview Southdale in Edina. Dr. Larson is an OBGYN Specialist and I've had a wonderful experience thus far. They have been very thorough throught my pregnancy.

Good luck, and Welcome to MN. Hope you're bringing a coat :o)

  • I LOVE Dr. Lisa Baker at a clinic called Ob/Gyn, & Infertility

https://www.obgynmn.com/  Her warmth is fantastic, and they are a very efficient and friendly clinic.  They are located in the Fairview - Southdale hospital offices.
