becareful if you use a laxative right away. if you are really backed up you might not even go but have horrible stomach cramps and pains-this can even cause a blockage because the med doesnt get to all the way down to the colon. it happened to me once before when i was on some heavy meds it cause me to be super constipated. i took a laxitive and wound up back in the hospital-at that point the enema didnt work for me and i did 2 in the ER. if this happens you might need an enema or a suppository for quick relief. other wise use metemucil or natural stool softeners to slowly let you go.

be cautious with fiber. some people it helps. others it might make worse...

I find that a half cup of coffee works amazingly well (and is totally ok by my doctor.
Also, warm apricot juice or plum juice is also really quick and effective.
