Babies: 0 - 3 Months

When did you move baby into their own room?

Just curious. When did you move your baby into their own room? If the baby is still in the room with you, at what age are you going to move him??

Our baby is in our room in his bassinet but he is growing fast and I don't know how much longer he will fit. I am sure he will sleep fine in his own room but I don't know how well I will sleep not being able to look over and see him or hear him. We have a baby?monitor?up with a camera but i'm?still hesitant on moving him.??

  • Mine has been in since day one. It was hard the first couple of nights, I spent the whole night listening to the monitor and jumping at any little noise. But now, I got familiar with his little grunts and noises and can distinguish what is going on from them.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.

  • We moved DD#1 when she was 9 months old.  That's when she began sttn.  We moved DS at 6 months when he was weaned to formula.  I liked having the kids in the same room if they are still nursing during the night.  We'll keep DD#2 in our room until she sttn or only gets up once a night.

    DD3 - 3.28.11
  • Our little one was in her own room, in her crib at 2 1/2 weeks. My DH couldn't sleep with her in the room so since she is right across the hall I didn't have any problem putting her in there.  We just plug in the monitor, but it's not really needed as she lets us know when she wants us.

  • My DD has been sleeping in her crib since Day 3. ?The first two nights she slept in her swing in our room. ?
  • DS has slept in his room since the night we got home from the hospital.  He is a very loud sleeper and I don't think I would get much sleep with all his little grunts and groans!

  • 3 weeks, should've been sooner though. DS makes noise in his sleep and kept us up when we didn't need to be.
  • We will as soon as DD gets her nights and days switched around.  She has been sleeping downstairs in the pack n play so that one of us can get sleep at night in our bedroom- the other one stays up with her and then sleeps on the couch.

This is just the best way for us right now since we have a colicky baby (hopefully we can resolve her gas issues soon) that doesn't goto sleep until 3 or 4 am every.single.night.

  • Our plan is 5 or 6 months, but right now I cannot imagine him being far away from me like that.  I thought I would want him in his own room at 6 weeks, but obviously I didn't.  I love being able to look at him from my bed.  DH doesn't mind it and we are actually having a ton of fun finding different places to have sexy time after we put DS to bed at night.

  • they will move as soon as their room is done (should be this week). we moved a week before they were born so it has taken this long for DH to finish their room. they are in a crib in our room right now.
  • also one week. the first week was rough, but it got easier every week.  now i know his grunts and my internal clock knows when he will wake up.  its also very easy to put him to bed for the night or a nap cause he is so used to his room.

my personal feeling is the parents room are meant for the parents, it should be a treat for baby to come in.  i normally bring LO to our bed around 645 when he gets up and while i'm not working me and him take a little power nap til' 8 or so.  i will miss that when i go back to work :(

  • Right now she naps in her own room but sleeps in our room at night. I'm going to try to transition into night here in the next couple of days

  • I'm planning on moving him when he either outgrows his bassinet or sleeps a 7hr. stretch consistently.
  • At 6 weeks.  The thought of moving her was much worse than actually doing it for us.  She sleeps better too.

  • Our little guy has been in his own crib in his own room since he was a week old.  After about a week of getting used to it, we all finally started getting decent sleep

  • Day 2 at home.  I tried a bassinet, but I was up all night listening to every noise he made wondering if I should do something.  It was much more peaceful for us to be in his own room.  Our monitor is really sensitive, so I just turn it up and I hear every little noise (but can still sleep)!
  • I had initially planned on waiting til 3 months to move her but we wound up moving her into her own room at 3 or 4 weeks.  I loved having her in our room, but DH and I like to talk and read before we go to bed, and with the lights on and everything, we were keeping Selah awake.  She's only been waking once or twice each night since we moved her, so with the monitor on, everything's been great.
  • We moved him at 7 weeks.  He had started sleeping for 6-7 hours so we moved him.  We all sleep better now that he is in his own room.
  • 6 weeks, she was too big for the bassinett, she would move around too much and had no space.
