Anyone know of any good childbirth classes?

Hi ladies!  I'm new to this board and I'm starting to look into childbirth classes...has anyone had any experience with these or recommendations for any?

Re: Anyone know of any good childbirth classes?

  • We took a class called Balance Born Childbirth at Touro.  It was eight weeks long, two hours each Wednesday evening.  This class centered around natural unmedicated childbirth.  I really liked it.  We ended up choosing this class because I had wanted to take a Bradley Method class, but the only one I could find in our area didn't work with our schedules.  Anyway, it was a good class if your goal is an unmedicated birth - that was my goal, and I feel like with the help of the class I achieved it and had a great labor and delivery.

You don't have to be delivering at Touro to take the class.  They have a list of classes here:  https://www.touro.com/content/fbc/default.htm  I think they have a weekend retreat along the same lines of the eight week class if you can't make such a long commitment.

My boss, who delivered her daughter one week after I did, took Lamaze at EJGH and said she liked it.  She also delivered naturally/unmedicated.
  • I took classes at EJ (where I delivered).  I thought they were great.

I second this class. The 8 week one didn't work for us, but she also offers a weekend course as well that's similar. :)
