NTR: anyone have that beater blade thing?

A few months ago some people on here rec'd the Kitchen Aid "beater blade" - a special beater with spatula thingys coming off the edges to insure getting everything off the bowl sides when mixing.

This was on my Christmas list for my mom and sister, but I'm still not convinced that it's necessary or that they'll like it. I generally don't have a problem with my current beater and my mom has never mentioned any gripes... if anything, I have more of this problem with the bottom of the bowl as opposed to the sides.

Anyone have it and love/hate it?

Its good for beating softened butter or cream cheese.
