This Might be Flame-Worthy, But...

I really hate when parents treat their children like their bff.

This statement has a long, drawn out back story that I would love to share regarding my IL's, but its so crazy you wouldn't believe it anyway.  But basically my 15-yr old SIL is privy to all of the gory details of her parents imploding marriage (including things about their sex life!) and my MIL often asks SIL for advice after a fight with FIL.  It just makes me so angry!  A 15-yr old should be dealing with boys and make-up, not whether or not her mom should ask her dad to move out.  UGH.

    I agree with you and that is very sad for your SIL.  What is the saying - Love your kids enough to let them hate you?  Something like that, regarding setting limits and discipline.
