1st Trimester

Need advice

Okay so before Thanksgiving I went to a job interview at a small little car store, the job is for a car sales person/finacer I got called back today (which I think has been a really long time for a call back) and they want to offer me the job. It seems like a pretty stressful job. Its salaried 2000 a month but they said I will work about 50 hours a week, and you have to sell atleast 28 cars a month. I am not a sales person.

I don't know if the job is worth the stress its going to be, especially because I have a temp job that starts the end of next month that goes until July (when LO is due) and it pays a heck of a lot more, and it's no where near as stressful.

I mean I could take the job for the next month until the other job starts but I feel like that is wrong. I don't know what to do. DH told me it's up to me because were fine with money and bills right now, but it is Christmas time and would be nice to have the extra money until the other job starts.

I just don't want to stress myself out with my LO growing in there.

Re: Need advice

  • I agree with pp - I wouldn't even bother doing it for a month - just relax for now until you start the other job .

  • 28 cars a month is crazy especially for a small dealership, if you don't need the money then I wouldn't want the extra stress.
  • I would save yourself the stress and not take the job. ?Enjoy the downtime while you have it before the temp job starts!
  • I wouldn't take the car job.  Selling 28 cars at least every month seems really high, given this economy.  And unless you see a great commission, 2000 a month is nothing.  If you don't need the money, enjoy your break before your temporary job starts.

  • Why would you take a sales job when you are not a sales person?

This seems really stressful and probably would not work out.

  • I turned down a job recently and it was SO HARD to do even though I knew in my gut that it was the right thing to do. I say make a list of pros and cons on both jobs and see what you come up with. It sounds like a no stress job until July might be a great deal but I think you should probably write it all out and sleep on the decision. That's how I did it. I turned down this job before I was pg and I have been so glad that I made that decision even though I agonized about it for a few days and even after wondered if I had done the rigth thing.
  • totally agree
  • if hubby told me we were ok enough for me to stay home i'd stay home in a heartbeat, getting up at 6:30 am every morning sucks! Sad

  • I think I'm gonna turn it down. I'm so bored during the day, but the stress isn't worth it for extra Christmas cash.

Thank you all for advice :) it makes me feel better knowing other people agree its a poor job choice. 28 cars is rediculous, I don't think Donald Trump's apprentices could find a way to sell that many cars.

  • with a baby on the way, not really NEEDING the money, and the fact that you're almost stressed out before you've even taken the job.. i would say don't do it. it won't be worth it, for the money you'll be getting, the stress you'll have... i say no.
