2nd Trimester

Some spotting last night

So last night DH and I had sex and afterwards I spotted for about 20 minutes.  Besides maybe back in week 8 I never had any spotting or bleeding and I didn't have any cramping along with it.  If it would have continued longer I would have called the doctor but I figured spotting after sex it can be pretty normal.  LO was kicking me last night (about 5 hours after the spotting) pretty hard so I am assuming he is fine but I am still a little cautious this morning.  I did some shoveling yesterday (because we got major snow here in WI) and I am worried I overdid it.  I know you guys aren't doctors or professionals but I am curious if you would have handeled the situation the same way.  Would you have called the doctor no matter what?  TIA

  • I would but I had a SCH during first tri so I'm super sensitive to bleeding.

  • Because it was right after sex, and stopped last night, I would've handled it exactly as you did. If it wouldn't have stopped, or comes back today, I'd call.

  • I had a threatened miscarriage at 8.5 weeks, so yes, I would and will be calling if I ever see spotting/bleeding again.

  • Whenever I call the doc about spotting, the first thing they asked me is when I last had sex...I wouldnt worry about it

  • If you are even a little worried, call your doctor... It probalby is nothing... but I have heard that in late 2nd, and 3rd trimesters it is ALWAYS important to let your Dr. know about any kind of bleeding. It probalby will only take a couple minutes to call and  it will give you a lot of peace of mind.
