Down there PP (Sorry kind of gross)

Okay so I am 5 weeks PP and it still hurts a bit down there.  (I did tear a bit and have a few stitches but I felt about the same in the hospital down there that I do now, 5 weeks later!)  My OB thought I might have a UTI although the test came back negative so I have been treated for it twice!  No luck, but they gave me the crappy prescription for BFing mommy's.  They never checked my stitches once I was discharged.  They asked if I had any other signs of infection and when I didn't they never even bothered to check!

It has been 5 weeks and my discharge was turning to yellowish but now I am bleeding a little too.  Is this normal?  I have my 6 week appt next Wed but I am a little nervous that maybe I shouldn't wait that long.  I keep talking to my Dr. though and they don't seem to think it's cause for concern.  Anyone else know if this sounds normal?

  • Yellow (or any color besides clear, for that matter) discharge would of sent a red flag to me. I would of called right that minute.

  • Oh, I didn't read that you've already told your Dr and he didn't seem concerned. If it really bothers you though, I'd make an appointment.

I've heard this before too, but my discharge has always had a yellowish tint, so when I had some PP, I wasn't too worried.  I always think that you are the best judge of when something is wrong.  it sounds like you are doing the right thing by being persistent with your doctor.

  • Yellow/clear is VERY normal for PP bleeding. It fades from bright red to brown to pink to yellow to clear. It is also normal to be a little sore for a while. I would talk to your Dr. but certainly if your gut tells you something is not right, I would not wait to see him! Good luck! They should check your stitches next week.
