? for NuvaRing users (re: yeast infections)

If you have had a yeast infection while on NuvaRing, how do you care for it?I'm pretty sure I have one.

I am afraid if I use the suppositories/cream inserts in there, that it may mess with the NuvaRing.?

I also don't want the yeast medication to mess with the ring, and possibly make it ineffective = pregnancy. Don't need to be pg right now!

You can call the ob to ask about an oral med or ask the pharmacy whether the vag meds would lower the efficacy.

I know it sounds gross, but I've heard of a lot of women who do it, including myself. Buy plain yogurt and put it on a tampon. Yogurt can work wonders.

I've heard this before. I just wasn't sure about inserting a tampon in there when I'm not on a period. I thought it was bad to have a tampon in you if you are not?menstruating??

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't want to be messing with homeopathic remedies when I have a yeast infection. I want that mutha gone ASAP. If I were you, I'd call the OB to ask about using cream/suppositories with the ring, and/or to get the oral prescription Diflucan. I don't think that is always as effective as the creams, though. As for it messing with your bc, though... do ya really think you'll be having sex anytime soon? :-P Unless you're at the very start of your cycle, I'd probably be abstaining til I got this cleared up and then it might be close to time for your pd anyway.
