did you read No Cry Sleep Solution?

I can't seem to find the time to read it.  Can someone maybe summerize it for me or give me the important pointers?  I WISH she had an audio book!!

Re: did you read No Cry Sleep Solution?

  • Yes, but it was awhile back. That book was reeeally repetitive, so you could probably just read a chapter or two and get the jist of it.

The main things are establishing a regular routine. I *think* that book recommends the EASY method (if not that one, all the others do - baby whisperer, etc). Eat, awake, sleep, play. Instead of nursing to sleep, feed them upon waking. Then try to get them to sleep without a nurse.

I've read them allll so the books are jumbled in my head.

  • I read it- honestly it wasn't for me.

the EASY rule- worked 'loosely' for me in the early months as to begin some hope of routine. however i ALWAYS listened to my gut and to my baby for direction. (not downing the book- however as a first time parent you are in the dark as you figure this all out)--

  • So what did you ladies do?  And when did you start?

  • I don't think NCSS mentions the EASY routine (I know Baby Whisperer does). NCSS basically says you should keep logs of your baby's sleep habits. Then you identify what the problems are that you want to fix (she talks about how something isn't a problem unless it actually bothers you -- so if you don't mind nursing to sleep, keep doing it). She has a lot of suggestions for better sleep habits. The suggestions are all in one chapter -- you could probably just read that. It's late, so I'm blanking on any of her specific suggestions. I know she has tips for breaking the suck to sleep association.

EASY worked pretty well for my kids. I think with DD, we started around 2 mos?  I can't remember with DS but I'm tempted to say around the same time as well.  It was more of a routine than anything else, and once we established a predictable routine, it was a lot easier for everyone involved.

Oh yeah, you're right. Like I said, I read them ALL.

OP, I tried every trick in every book in an attempt to avoid CIO. When DD was 14 months and awake every night from 11pm-4am, I finally bit the bullet and did Ferber. It worked.

I think with my next child I'll try to start earlier with a routine and the e-a-s thing. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. I won't do CIO earlier than a year though. I'd just suffer through it!
