Pampers Swaddlers Size 1 - sizing?

We're between diaper sizes right now, and I'm not sure what to buy next. We've been using Pampers Swaddlers newborn, and they're getting a little small and beginning to leak. But the diapers I have stocked up, Nature Babycare size 1, is still a little big.

So I'm just wondering how Swaddlers size 1 runs? Is it just a little bigger than the NB size? If so that may be the right thing in the interim.

  • We had the same problem.  I think they are alot bigger than newborn, they are pretty huge on DS, but he is growing into them, and no more leaks.

  • When you switch baby to a new diaper size they will be a bit big as they grow into them. They will not fit perfectly. When we switched to size 1 they went well above DD's belly button and she is now ready to switch to size 1-2 because she has grown into her size 1 and right back out. LOL!

But definitely go up a next size if he's leaking because he shouldn't be leaking. HTH!

  • My guy is wearing them now, I'm not sure what his weight is currently though.  They're a little big in the sense that they go over his belly button, but that's about it.  I can still put NB on him but they were starting to leak and seemed a little tight around the leg openings.

  • When DS was in between the Swaddlers newborn & size 1, I put him in size 1 and just folded the top over before closing it.  It worked perfect.

  • If you are starting to get leaks with the NB size, go up to the Sz 1 size.  They are bigger then NB.  The NB size is up to 10lb (seriously I don't know how they would fit a 10lb baby).  Size 1 is 8-14lb.  FWIW, I go up a size in diapers a couple of pounds shy of the next size up.  Ex. I started using the size 1 diapers when DS2 was 6lb.

  • Ditto the pp who said to just fold the top down.  The size 1's start at 8lbs.  DS is only 7.5lbs and he can wear a size 1.  I just pull it up so that the leg openings are in the right spot and then fold the front down to where the belly button is.  They don't leak.  As soon as we are out of newborns he'll start wearing them all the time.
  • My DS is 9 lbs and I just started using size 1 this week...they are big but the NB were beginning to leave marks.
  • Don't forget, you can overlap the fasteners on the Swaddlers around the front, so even if they seem big at first, you can get a snug fit! (I work for Pampers in Consumer Care Wink )
  • I had the same issue so I switched to Huggies (which I don't love) for about a week. I think I got Huggies size 1 which are smaller than size 1 swaddlers.
