Preemies

F/U to Below Post...WWYD

So, DH and I have had a weekend getaway planned for months.  We are supposed to leave on Friday.  We will only be a 3 hour car ride away and my parents are supposed to stay at our house and watch Robinson for the weekend.

Now, with the sickness and the nebulizer...I'm having a major preemie mom guilt and don't want to leave him.  I mentioned it to the pedi and he said "you've been through hell the past year and half, you need this vacation.  we caught this early; by Friday he should be better anyway.  your parents can handle 2 days of breathing treatments and you need some relaxation...go!"

Just background, in the past 1.5 we had the ordeal with Robinson- my health wasn't great for 6 months post partum...plus, I lost both my grandparents, my great grandmother and my 14 year old dog all within 6 months, and I quit my job to take care of Robinson....that was what the pedi was referencing.  I DO need a break, but I still feel guilty leaving him while he's sick...  advice???

  • I think you should go! If I stayed home everytime Marino needed a breathing treatment, let's just say I would be out of a job! Daycare gives him breathing treatments, my mom has given him treatments and he's home sick with my SIL right now and she's doing breathing treatments with him. You need a break. If something happens, you are close enough that you can get home in a few hours. In the meantime, he will be in capable hands.

Please go get a break and bond with your husband!

  • Thanks ladies!  My DH and parents are saying the same thing...so, I'll try to get the gumption to go.  DH and I do need some alone time and talk about something other than Robinson...you all know how that is!
  • I agree! Have a great time. He'll be in great hands!
