huh? Even if she sleeps with us for 3-4 months, that leaves YEARS of using the furniture and such we bought for the nursery.
bassinet in our room, probably until 6 mos. again (like with DS). with nursing, it was just easier to reach over & get him during the night. plus, ive heard, the SIDS risk is lower when a child sleeps in the same room as its mother. thats enough reason for me, because Im paranoid.
Our house wont be finished until a month after the baby is born. The first month baby will probably be in crib, when we move the babies nursery is upstairs so we'll do a PnP for a little while probably and then move LO up to their crib. During daytime naps etc though I'll be putting baby in the crib so it gets used to it.
We're planning on having her in our room to begin with-- either in my cradle from when I was lil, if we determine it's safe, or in the Pack and Play. I have just heard that this is safest.
We are just going to pull the crib up next to the bed and have the baby sleep in it. I figure there is no need to spend on a bassinet if we can share a room anyway. If we end up needing one, we'll get one then.
Bassinet is the plan now, though if we don't get one at the shower I doubt I'll want to drop the $$ on it and will just use the pack n play bassinet for awhile. I'd prefer to keep the pack n play downstairs though.
i'll be sleeping in the nursery with him/her, but there will be a crib. if they're anything like ds, they'll be in the crib. he wanted nothing to do with sleeping with me, so he was pretty much in his crib from the day we got home from the hospital. but i'll be bfing and don't want the hassel of walking across the house in the middle of the night, so i'm setting up a bed in there for myself.
we actually have room in our bedroom for a crib, but dh is a horrible sleeper and, if there's to be any sanity in this house, he needs his sleep.
i have a beautiful wooden cradle in my bedroom for the baby. my dad is a furniture maker and he made it for my DD. she never really used it because she was a crappy sleeper. she and i co-slept, or she slept in a swing in my bedroom, and then in a pack-n-play in the room. we moved her to her crib in her room at 4 months. i hope this baby is a better sleeper.
