As most of of you have read my UPDATE that I posted earlier in the day on Tuesday that I will be delivering my twins within the next week or two.. ?At the moment that are talking of inducing me and letting me do a vaginal Delivery since they are both head down but will have me in the operating room just in case a c-section is needed to be done....?
Well I have a question but first off I know every delivery especially when it comes to delivering multiples its a different recovery process for each mother...?
My question is how long did YOU personally (not the babies)) stay in the hospital after you delivered.. Whether it was a vaginal or a C- Section???
I think I will be there a day or 2 after since that is how long it was with my DS back in 08' but these days with a lot of pregnancies they let women go home the same day and I think that is crazy...?
TIA
Re: Post Delivery ?
I delivered DD vaginally, and was there for a day and a half.
I had our 2nd (vaginally) at 1:30 in the afternoon and left late in the morning 2 days later. I had lost a lot of blood though, so I'm not sure if we would have left earlier or if that was the norm.
I've heard of going home the same day when birthing with a midwife at a free-standing birth center, but I've never heard of that for a hospital birth!
if there are no complications with the mom - vaginal birth = 2 nights... so if you give birth at 12:01am... you actually kind of get 3 nights (this happened when i had griffin at 1:40am... it was great to have that extra night!).
With a c/s it is generally 3-4 nights. My doc gives 4 nights for a twin mom - for no other reason than to get one more night of good rest, he says.
I delivered DS vaginally on a Saturday night and was able to go home on Monday afternoon. It'll be one day longer this time since I'll be having a c/s (so I'll deliver tomorrow and go home on Sunday).
My hospital (well, the one I delivered DS at, it's now been replaced, but they probably have the same policy) will give you another night if you wish for $35. You're essentially discharged, the nurses won't be "taking care of you", but they're there if you need them for that extra night.
C-section at 11am on Sunday and I was released by 10am on Wednesday.
