Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I have a confession & a question..

My DD basically STTN in her swing (she'll wake to eat around 4 and then sleep til 8) and if I try to put her down in her crib she will only last around 1-2 hours or however long it takes her to somehow end up in the corner of the crib and it's like that all night. I feel badly about letting her sleep in her swing and I know she should be in her crib but I love my sleep at night and I know I'm much better the next day.

I know the only reason she wakes up is because she ends up ramming her head into the corner of the crib and it wakes her up and then she gets angry. So my question is, how in the world do I get her to stay in the middle of the crib?

  • Sleep positioner.  I use it for my LO and it works great

  • I don't have this problem but have you looked into a sleep positioner?

  • You could try using a sleep positioner.  We have a very simple one that we use just to keep LO on her side because she just doesn't like to sleep on her back.
  • We use a positioner.  Also do you have a bumper?  That helps with the problem as well.

  • Ahh, I can't believe I never thought of a sleep positioner! I will have to go out and get one tomorrow.

I have breathable bumpers on my crib.

  • PSA --- PLEASE be careful with positioners with your lo's! My ds was in a simple one, had breathable bumpers on either side of him & I found him wedge between them with his arms stuck up on either side of his head with his face stuck facing his arm all because he slide down a little between them. Also, I tried a different one it has two bumpers and the part the baby lays on is slanted. A friend of mine, her ds pushed himself over the back enough for his head to drop of the raised side and was choking because his head was tilted back over it. Just be careful ladies please!

  • The sleep positioner I have says right on it that once the baby can move around in their sleep to stop using it!!!
  • We use a sleep positioner and it works great. Only in the last day or so have we noticed LO moving around more at night and causing himself to shimmy upward (to where the positioner is around his legs and not his torso). I'm a little paranoid about taking away the positioner just yet because I worry he could wind up at the corner of the bed with his face smashed into the bumper (even though it's breathable).
