1st Trimester

Does your husband/partner go to your doctor appts?

Just curious. I think my husband plans to come to some of mine, but not all of them.

Re: Does your husband/partner go to your doctor appts?

  • Yup. I never ask him, he just tells me he already took off to come. Lol.

  • Mine is coming to my first and probably a couple other. Probably just the big ones.

  • Mine does. We plan my appt.s around when he gets off for lunch.

  • I think he'll probably come when I am having an ultrasound but not to any of the others. He came with me at 6 weeks when we had our first ultrasound, but isn't planning to come to my 8 week OB appointment next week.

  • He goes to the ultrasounds (at least he will) but not the OB.
  • He went to the 1st appt. (luckily we got an ultrasound and got to see the lil bugga) and he'll go to the 18 week one when we find out the sex. He did the same w/ DD.

  • Mine comes to all.

  • DH works about an hour and a half away from my ob's office, so he'll only  come to the big ones!
  • He came to my intake/info appointment and will be coming to the appointment in two weeks. We'll hear the heartbeat at that appointment. I think he'll try to come to most of them. He's able to use "sick time" for my appointments but this will also make up a good chunk of his paternity leave so we need to watch the hours he takes. He'll definitely come to any big appointments and probably most of them toward the end of the pregnancy.

  • Always there.. and will be throughout all appointments.  He wants to be and I like the support.
  • Mine is very big into it but I don't think he will make everyone due to the fact that our work schedules are opposite.
  • My DH is going to all of them with me.
  • My DH is extremely into everything baby.  Plus I want him to be there with me every step of the way.

  • DH came for my first u/s and will come for my 20 wk level 2 u/s and any other big ones.  To be honest I go so often that he just can't get the time off work and still save some up for when the babies are born.

  • With DD he came to all u/s, but not the standard appointments.  Probably will be the same this time... although he may have to watch DD anyway.

  • yep. DH was supposed to be deployed for 18 months starting a few weeks ago... and 2 days before his scheduled deployment, they told him he wasn't going.. at least for now.  He may still go... and he may miss the birth and first few months of our child's life. So we are definitely appreciating and taking advantage of any time he has in the states.

  • My DH came to everything until I was about 20 weeks.  Then I switched practices to a place that did not do evening appointments, so unless it is really important, he does not take off work to come.  They are all the same and really quick after a certain point anyway
  • With our DD - he came to almost all of the appts - not sure this time. ?He is coming with me to my first appt next week - and will probably come to the u/s appts - he loves those! ?
  • Well he has made plans to go with me to my 1st appt and will most likely go with me to all of the big appts.  I would much rather him save his time off for after the baby is here :)
  • We have only had one-- he went b/c it was the first.  I don't think he will go to the ones that don't have u/s or other big event associated.

  • He is coming to this appt in case we can hear the heartbeat and he will come to the ultrasound. But that's it. He is a busy fellow and most of the appointments are non-events.

  • My husband wants to go to as many as he possibly can, in fact he asked that I change my first appointment from the morning to the afternoon due to his work schedule, so I did.  Unofrtunately he was in the ER that very morning with food poisoning and ended up being unable to go at all.  He was SOOOO disappointed.  I know it broke his heart that he missed seeing/hearing the heartbeat.  And for my next appt, I had to schedule before the end of the year due to insurance purposes, and the only appts that were available were in the mornings.  So I had to take it.  But from here on out, I will do my best to schedule afternoon appts so that he can come!
  • Last pregnancy he came to the first two (wanted to hear the HB) and the big ultrasound.  This time he will probably just come to the ultrasound.
  • DH came to all of mine with DD, and is planning on coming to all of them this time, as well.  He likes to be as involved as possible, and I like having someone else there to hear what the OB has to say/think of any questions to ask.

  • Yes, don't know what I'd do without him. He will definitely come to every appt. until we're out of the "danger zone". After the 2nd trimester I have to go a lot more frequently so he may skip out on a couple of those, but I purposely schedule my appts. so he can make it. :)

  • Mine went to most of mine with DD.  He didnt go to some toward the end where I would go once a week.

This time he came to the first, will come to my NT scan the week of Christmas but probably skip my 12 week appt the next day.  He will come to the biggies.

  • He never missed an appointment with DS (30 months) but due to child care issues and stuff and will come to u/s and that's it for now with this pregnancy. I enjoyed him there with my DS, it was a large practice with alot of waiting time, it gave us great time to talk! We have since moved, I have a very small practice and hardly any wait, and currently SAHM so DH keeps DS and they enjoy the play time together! (He really wants to come to more of the appts, not ready to take DS with me too though!)
  • we just found out this morning through 2 positive tests that we are pregnant.. and i asked my husband if he would be coming to my appointments, half expecting him to say no.. and he said he would absolutely be coming! i was very happy to hear that.

it's not necessarily super important that he comes to every single one, but the big ones, yes.. like the first heartbeat and finding out the gender.

  • DH only missed two appts. the first time around--one because his stepdad passed away (they live too far away for us to afford 2 last-minute airfares), and one because we couldn't get it scheduled at a good time.  But he made it to all the rest.  This time around, we'll probably try to get him there for the first heartbeat-listening one, and then the ones toward the end (in case my blood pressure starts going skyward again), just to make things easier with DD.
  • He wants to make them all but can't everytime this last one he was like call me when you get there and put me on speaker phone.  My doctor was so cute when I told her he was on the phone she started yelling Rob?! Can you hear me?! Ok Good!  And when she listened for the heartbeat that DH had already heard a few days before she held my phone to the little speaker thing.  i was cracking up I have the best doc!
