1st Trimester

I told DH this will be an only child....

Because I never want to experience this level of morning sickness (really all-day sickness) ever again!

Today has been the worst day so far. This may sound gross, but I really wish I could throw up. I think it would make me feel better, at least temporarily. I've tried, nothing happens. So instead, I just feel like I'm going to constantly throw up from 5 am - 8 pm. If I felt this way at any other time, I would stay home from work and lay on the sofa with some ginger ale, but I can't stay home for the next 6+ weeks.

Anyone else want to vent about feeling sick?

Re: I told DH this will be an only child....

  • Trust me.

Throwing up does not make you feel better.

  • LOL She's right. Plus with me, once I actually throw up, I just have the dry heaves afterwards. It's hell.

Try getting something sour in you. It may help. I've become a huge fan of lemonade lately. Seems to make me feel less queasy. =)

  • I've said the same words to H.  Especially around 6-7 weeks.  Luckily things have improved.
  • My m/s started at about 5.5 weeks and went on Zofran.  It helped SO much.  Like you, I was sick all day, but was vomiting.  II just went off the Zofran 3 days ago because the constipation was a HUGE issue and I am feeling better.  This will pass, hopefully it will pass soon for you.
  • I feel your pain, SO much.  The other day, I was driving and had to puke in a cup in my car.  I feel like all I do anymore is throw up, or feel like it, and honestly, I hold it as much as I possibly can, because getting it out really doesn't help at all.

  • I said the same thing to DH with my first pregancy... it just took me 3 years to forget it and decide to do it again!

  • Its funny how we all say that when were hugging the toilet. But I've been in  the first trimester for a total of 43 weeks in the last 2 years.( i did the math when i was throwing up the other day) So I'm hoping this one really sticks, because I don't think my body can handle this forced bulimia!
  • For me the morning sickness was horrible, but I only threw up a couple of times.  I talked to my doctor about it because I was worried that I was losing too much weight, getting dehydrated, and wasn't able to go about my daily life.

They didn't hesitate to write me a prescription for anti-nausea meds, and also didn't hesitate to up me when the first meds no longer worked.  There's no need to suffer if you don't have to.  Try calling your doc and see if they can give you something.

  • LOL-- but when it passes you will forget how bad it was, and then when the baby is born you'll see how worth it it was. :) And you'll be ready to have another.

I told DH we would not consider #3 since my m/s was so bad with this one a few weeks ago, but it's passed and I'm sure I'll forget it when the time comes.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  • With DS my morning sickness started with conception! So far it hasn't started. I know I've still got time, but I am hopeful I paid for it last time. Just a thought :)

  • I uttered the very same words as I was dry heaving in a luckily pretty empty grocery store parking lot last night.  I don't actually throw up either even if I have just eaten I only dry heave how that is possible I don't know.

I had the same problem!  My doc recommended Miralax, which I mix with juice.  It helps so much!

  • I have been sick since 4.5 weeks. I am nauseous all day, and I also throw up all day, every day. That's WITH Zofran. I am praying to God this doesn't last the whole pregnancy, because I do not think my job will survive it.

Throwing up is horrible, you get no relief like when you are sick, and it is humiliating in public and at work and school. :(

  • I recommend chewing gum. That's what helped me.

  • I'm sorry you are not feeling well, that really sucks. Hopefully it'll clear up in a few weeks.

If it makes you feel any better, it is so incredibly worth every minute of it. I looked at my son after a very difficult pregnancy and knew that I would go through it all again and worse for him.

  • I told my DH the same exact thing a few nights ago. His response was pretty funny.

Me: I hope you are ok with this baby being an only child bc I am not going through this again.

DH: Well you better hope there are twins in there.

We'll see what happens at the u/s today ;) I hope he's not disappointed when there's only one in there!

This makes me gag even worse! Luckily mine has been subsiding lately though..

    Yes

She's right. Atleast, it is nausea and not constantly puking. Not fun having to get off the subway so you can throw up on the platform.

  • My BF teases ne all the time saying this is going to be an only child. I tell him if he wants more, the saying better be true: that once the LO comes, you forget all this. B/c if I don't, oh heck no am I doing this again!! My mom told me once "of course most women forget (nausea, pain of child birth, etc) or almost every kid would be an only child." This is horrible. Absolutely HORRIBLE. So I'm right there with you. And FWIW, throwing up only makes me feel better for about 30 minutes - an hour.
