IVF after D&C?

Hi Ladies-

I just learned today that I will most likely have to have a D&C in the near future (I'm supposed to be seven weeks pg, however, I am barely measuring five weeks and my doctor says to expect a miscarriage in the upcoming week or so).  Do you know how quickly we can start our next IVF cycle after the D&C?  I have so many questions but was too upset to ask them today with my RE.  Have you experienced anything like this?  Any inspirational stories???  Looking to stay positive...

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.  That's just heartbreaking.

I believe that you need to get at least one AF before starting IVF again, but some of the other girls might have better info.

I had a D&C (but further along) early June, and I was told by a couple docs I had to wait 2 full cycles and then can try on the 3rd. Their reasons were because the D&C removes your lining in such a way, any pregnancy following would not have a nice place to land. I didn't want to believe them, but my research seemed to back that up.

A natural miscarriage, however, does not seem to cause the same problems. I don't know if you're able to wait for a natural m/c, but that would be one consideration if you want to start that much sooner. You may want to check into how your insurance will cover this - I was billed over $15K for mine, and when it was chopped down, I still had to pay $3K+. It stung.

I had a d&c in February 2008 at 8 weeks.  My RE wanted me to wait 3 months before ttc again.  I didn't get a period for 68 days and finally had to take Provera to get it started.  I started on bcp in May for my IVF cycle and started Lupron and injectables in June.  I found out I was pg from my first IVF cycle in July (5 months after my d&c).

I'm sure every dr. is different in what they recommend after a m/c.  I will keep you in my thoughts during this difficult time and I hope that you get a sticky bfp soon!

I am so sorry for your loss. I was going to do a FET after my m/c and my transfer was a little over 6 weeks from my last surgery (I had to have two). I know it's hard but try to stay positive and think about the future. I bought a memory necklace to keep the memory close but to also help me move on. Good luck and stay strong!

I'm so so sorry for your loss!!! I had to have a D&C around this time last year and it was so hard to get through the holidays.

I had to wait at least a month for one natural cycle - HCG had to get to zero and then had to get my period again. Once I got my period they let me start BCPs to prepare for IVF.
