how long does PPD last?

This may be a dumb question, but I'm really concerned for a friend.  She had twins about a month ago.  She's in pretty bad shape.  She's normally very outgoing and the life of the party.  Now, she's having troubles just getting out of bed.  She told me she thinks she has PPD (I agree), but she just wants to wait it out.  This concerns me.  I'm worried about her.  Should I press her to go to the doctor?  Her mom will be there for another week, but then she's going home (4 hours away) to get ready for Christmas.  She'll be w/ the twins and her 3 year old pretty much by herself.

I don't want to be pushy to her, but I want the best for her too.
