Hi! I spent most of the day in LandD for contractions. I was having them about every 9 minutes for almost 8 hours. They gave me 2 shots of Terb, and were able to stop them. My internal exam showed I am 50percent effaced and the internal sono showed funneling of my cervix - not too bad though, its still measuring 36. They believe the funneling is being caused by the babies both being soooo low. I'm in so much pain I can barely walk. I also have another UTI - my fourth this pregnancy. They gave me a shot of Rocephin, and upped the Macrobid I take daily to try and knock it out. I guess my question is, anyone have any of these issues?? I'm just really nervous and starting to get scared. Thanks for listening to my rambling ladies - and sorry its a long jumble, I'm on my blackberry and don't know how to enter return lines
Re: hey ladies...need some advice/prior experiences
no real advice- just wanted to say i hope it gets better soon and hope you can hold them in there a few more weeks!
UTIs will cause PTL - i'm sure they told you that- so trying to avoid them any way you can should be a big priority - drinking TONS of water, cranberry juice, wiping front to back, peeing all the time, etc. It's hard - pregnancy sometimes just gives you UTIs. I got them with my first pg. Didn't get any with my twin pg --- but in the 4 months post partum I got 4 of them- my urologist is doing lots of testing to try and figure out why- so i know how bad it sucks!
www.keepemcookin.com has tons of great info on how to keep them in there!
I started PTL at 24 wks and i was funneling too. I was put on hospital bedrest and held out until my water broke at 29w. My babies were born 5 days after my water broke at 29w6d. I totally understand what you are going thru. Have you asked for your steroid shots or have they suggested you get them? Are you back home? Did they put you on bedrest? If not, I would try to do as little as possible and hopefully stop the funneling from progessing. Definitely ask for the steroid shots if it progesses any.
Good news, my babies were born born 2lb15oz and 3lb6oz. They are 8.5 months now and girl is 18lbs boy is 23lbs.
There is a high-risk pregnancy board on here that was very helpful to me. You will find many people on there going thru what you are. I'm more than willing to give you my email address too if you'd like to chat more. Let me know. HUGS!!
No advice, but I am glad that they where able to stop your labor. Whew. Take it easy.
We know that our babies are coming early.. so I got the stats on survival yesterday. At 27 wks survival is 91% and it shoots up to 95%, 97%, 98% and 99%+ in 28, 29, 30, and 31 wks respectively.
So do whatever you need to to keep those babies cooking. Even one week can make a huge difference at this point!!
