BM oversupply

if you had oversupply issues, how did you know?  I noticed jack had some green poop and was looking up possible reasons.  I found an article about oversupply and the list if signs sounds like it was written about us!

what did you do to correct the problem? did you speak to the pedi first?  or a lactation consultant?

Re: BM oversupply

  • Are you pumping at all?  If so, I'd cut most pumping sessions out...especially if you're pumping after you feed.

I usually pump in the middle of the night, but I don't have a huge oversupply issue.  I know if you do cut that out your body will get used to you not pumping and in a week you won't be as engorged after sleeping all night.

I think you should be talking to a LC though.  Your LO needs the hindmilk.  GL!

  • I have this problem.. Parker had horrible gas and liquid poop and would cry  for a long time after eating or trying to poop. I cut out all pumping and have been block feeding-two feeds on one boob then the next two on the other. I started on saturday and have a very happy baby back. I also cut out obvious dairy although I dont know if that was an issue also.
  • This is us exactly! He has been having the green poop too. I googled Over supply and click the first one, the symptoms are exactly what he has. Watery poop, red bottom, fussy, pulling off breast, he spits up alot, and has hiccups daily. And I feel pain during let down. I thought this was all normal. If your pedi or LC says anything can you PM me?

  • I think Im in the same boat as well....would you PM me too or post what your LC has to say? I called mine today and she acted like she thought it was all fine (since I only feed one breast per session at a time anyway)....but I still think we are having issues.....he is very fussy all of the sudden, some BMs are liquidy, his bottom is red, he hiccups frequently, he pulls away from the boob, and he always has milk pouring down his face when he feeds......
