So, I've got some conflicting info from people I've spoken to about registries and thought I would see what you bumpies thought..
I've registered for some of the big items (stroller/ carseat combo, glider and ottoman, breastpump, etc) but I also have a lot of the smaller items on there (diapers, baby clothes, burpcloths). I have heard that you shouldn't put clothes, receiving blankets, toys and burp clothes on the registry b/c then you end up getting too much of that stuff and none of the things you actually need... But if I take those items off the registry, I end up with only expensive items and it just starts to look like I'm gift grabbing for the big stuff! The main reason I put the big stuff on there is for the discount if I don't get them... Now I don't know if I should take the smaller items off or not..
Help!!
Re: Registry content question
As long as you have some med-low priced items, you are fine. Everyone puts the big ticket items on their registries for the discount and/or sometimes people want to chip in and buy one bigger present. Your are totally fine. I just wouldn't bother registering for clothes/burp clothes etc, because you will get a TON.
But I'm assuming you have a diaper pail, maybe a diaper warmer, some nursery decor items etc. Those are all good med priced items.
How do you know if you have too many of the big items or the little items? I feel like I did it all wrong!!
Not sure where you registered, but Target's registry gives a "guide" of how many things you should have in each category. I, however, have more in the lower price ranges than they "think" I should. You should just register for what you need. I don't expect anyone to purchase my bigger items (i.e. PNP and swing), but I put them on the for the completion coupon. Don't worry about what others think about your registry. You know what you need and want for baby

Whoa sister! Take a deep breath! There are no "rules" to registries. It's just a convenient way to let people know what you want/need right now. You can always exchange something later
My MIL is making all the bedding and curtains and things so I don't want to put any of that stuff on there.. Maybe just sheets but she has a TON of fabric and is making extras of everything...
Even without things like clothes and blankets, you should have a good mix of prices for other basics. Things like diaper cream, baby wash, bottles, and sheets are low-priced, and things like bouncers, playmats, and diaper bags tend to be mid-priced.
We didn't register for any clothes, but we did register for a couple receiving blankets that we liked along with some cloth diapers to use as burp cloths, and while we did receive a few extra of each, I still preferred the ones we had chosen ourselves.
